WOODEN PENCIL
The humble wooden pencil. No desk, backpack, pencil-case, drawer etc is complete without one. And my weapon of choice is the Dixon Ticonderoga. They're very cheap and easily replaceable.
MECHANICAL PENCIL
You need a mechanical pencil. Good ones are hard wearing, long lasting, beautiful and convenient. The main one I use on a daily basis is the Pentel Graphgear 1000 0.5mm.
PILOT G2
I don't personally use pens too much as they smudge, it's one of the curses of the left-handed! But this pen is cheap, looks good and performs to a high standard. And it smoothly lays down a solid deep black ink, your lines will look gorgeous!
POCKET NOTEBOOK
An absolute must have in any analog productivity system. I use a softcover, grid layout pocket notebook from Leuchtturm1917. Perfect for notetaking on the go and capturing items quickly. And the quality is superb.
MEDIUM NOTEBOOK (A5)
This is the big brother of the pocket Leuchtturm. Perfect for meeting notes, project planning, doodling etc. The size means it has just the right amount of space whilst being portable. Both notebooks have grid options and page numbers, perfect for your Calendex.
