Do you experience smudging on the lead once the pages of the notebook are closed and rub together?
Not for me but it’s worth noting that I don’t use 1 pencil consistently. I do use the same notebooks so the paper remains the same but I have 3/4 pencils I use regularly and rotate so of course, the leads are different in each and would have varying results after time.
In terms of my use of the Pentel Graphgear 1000, I have the Pentel Hi-Polymer HB leads and the paper in the Leuctturm is 80 gsm so pretty decent and I don’t see any significant smudging.
The true test to this would be to look at:
lead type/quality (used consistently)
paper type/quality (used consistently)
do you have sweaty/’claggy’ hands
how often you flick or thumb through your notebooks
and how old the notebook is.
The only times I see any sort of noticeable smudging is when I have been using a softer lead like a 4B and the page itself has been subject to a lot of ‘touching’.
